Electrolux AB
- Named executive owner
- Trade association review
- Direct lobbying governance
- Regular monitoring cycle
Electrolux has instituted a formal governance framework to align its climate lobbying, where "Group Sustainability and Group External Affairs functions are responsible for policies and positions development related to sustainability matters, including the climate change area," and key policies are "developed and agreed in a cross regional team (Group External Affairs Committee - GEAC)." This committee "coordinates positions and other public affairs matters," ensuring that "each business area is responsible for engaging with their respective policy makers" in accordance with the agreed positions, while indirect advocacy is channeled through associations such as "APPLiA" and "AHAM." The company explains it "uses an internal network of experts in the business sectors for monitoring of trends, legislation, and the public debate" and convenes monthly or quarterly forums "to be updated on strategy and positions," with the CEO holding "the ultimate power to override business sector decision" if material inconsistencies occur. Although this demonstrates a structured process, oversight by both a formal body and a named executive and covers direct and indirect lobbying channels, Electrolux does not disclose a publicly available climate lobbying audit or a mechanism for reviewing the positions of its industry associations to address potential misalignments.
This assessment is part of the Lobbying Governance Index, covering 8,500 companies scored on whether they have processes to oversee their climate lobbying. See all companies in Europe or all companies in Sweden.
