Public Policy, Anti-Bribery and Sanctions

We engage in public policy discussions that matter to our business and our customers. We strive to help policymakers around the world understand our business, innovations and contributions to the public interest.

Lobbying activities on behalf of RELX Inc. are managed by the RELX Government Affairs team, and, in coordination with our legal teams, are vetted, tracked and reported as required by law.

Consistent with our commitment to fostering a culture of integrity including through good governance, RELX has a supplemental policy and training for our employees that specifically relate to engagement with government officials and agencies.

The Code and related supplemental policy also address corporate political contributions, which are strictly prohibited except in the US, where such contributions and activities are permitted in certain states within allowable limits, if they comply with stringent reporting and disclosure regulations. Corporate political contributions require senior level review and approval. Corporate contributions are reported as required by law. Contributions are made on a bipartisan basis and no funds are donated for presidential campaigns or any other federal-level campaigns.

Describe the process(es) your organization has in place to ensure that your engagement activities are consistent with your overall climate change strategy[…]Engagement on climate change are managed by the Corporate Responsibility team to ensure the engagements are consistent with the company's support of the Paris Agreement. Engagement is conducted through reputable organisations that are working to advance climate action. For example, in the UK, RELX is a member of the Aldersgate Group who engage with policy makers, under its own direction, and RELX supports their calls for action.

Describe the process(es) your organization has in place to ensure that your external engagement activities are consistent with your climate commitments and/or climate transition plan?[…]Climate policy engagement is conducted via independent reputable third parties, and takes the form of RELX adding its support to a call for action (or similar) from that independent organisation. RELX does not direct the engagement of the third party. This engagement is oveseen by the CR team members of the CFO's Environmental Checkpoint Committee in consultation with government affairs colleagues and this engagement is disclosed in the Environment section of the CR Report. Primarily RELX engages via the Aldersgate Group in the UK and by signing up to campaigns such as We Are Still In which align with RELX climate action ambitions.
