The Governance Committee monitors updates to securities law and proxy advisor policies, reviews Board skills matrices and enterprise risk management program implementation. ### Governance and oversight
TC Energy's Board of Directors provides oversight and direction in the strategic planning process to foster the long-term success and sustainability of our company. The Board reviews and approves our strategic plan and monitors its implementation considering specific and emerging issues, including progress towards our emission reduction goals.
The Governance Committee of the Board oversees lobbying, political contributions, and corporate memberships. The Committee receives a report annually that provides information on our lobbying activities, a complete list of our political contributions and a detailed list of our corporate memberships, including industry associations and policy organizations.
TC Energy maintains registrations for lobbyists where required by law. Our lobbying activities are registered in various jurisdictions in Canada and the U.S., many of which provide public disclosure with details of registrations. We will continue to collaborate with industry, academia and governments in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico to enhance the safety and efficiency of our pipeline operations and to find ways that further reduce our emissions. TC Energy is also committed to actively managing public policy issues that have an impact on our company. The company engages in the public policy process by participating in direct government advocacy, as well as working with third parties, such as industry associations. As part of this commitment, the company focuses on constructive engagement and support of the political process through contributions to political organizations and political campaigns to the extent permitted by applicable law. TC Energy is non-partisan and participates in the political process only when permitted by applicable law, in accordance with company policies, and in a responsible and ethical way that serves the best interests of the company and its stakeholders.
