Lobbying Governance

In order to operationalise these and other policy commitments within our business, we have enhanced our sustainability governance structure (Appendix 2). Under our governance, the Board is ultimately responsible for sustainability, and they have delegated this responsibility to the Executive Committee. The Chief Sustainability Officer is also a member of the Executive Committee, and has established an internal structure to ensure delivery of our sustainability aims. This includes an internal Sustainability Council that reports into the Executive Committee, with expert groups driving priorities for biomass sourcing, people, nature, and climate. [...] Each of the "BECCS done well" conditions has a governance hub within Drax which will own the follow-up actions and develop and track metrics. This structure will be reviewed, and may evolve over time to better meet these objectives.

Describe the process(es) your organization has in place to ensure that your engagement activities are consistent with your overall climate change strategy[…]Several measures are in place ensuring coordination across the Group between our climate change strategy and external engagement with a range of stakeholders:
• An annual Group engagement strategy is formulated alongside coordinated messaging. This is presented and signed off by the Board and Executive Committee and then cascaded to business units. This ensures alignment across teams with our wider climate change strategy when engaging externally
• Underneath the engagement strategy sit engagement plans for all business units and senior leaders in the company. Tailored messaging is supplied alongside these plans, which is consistent with our strategy.
• Drax keeps a central bank of collateral that is consistent with our climate strategy including key messages, Q and A, supporting evidence and facts that is up to date and available to all staff undertaking engagement externally. Similarly, all staff are fully aware of our overall corporate target of being a carbon negative company by 2030 including how we believe we will reach this goal. All material is educational and accessible.
• We have a dedicated External Affairs team that is responsible for coordinating external messaging and engagement such that it is consistent with our climate change strategy. The team holds regular engagement across the business to ensure consistency of messaging and coordination of policy asks, in particular between our Sustainability team and External Affairs.
• All of our external engagement material and collateral is reviewed regularly via internal working groups to ensure it is consistent with our climate change strategy.
