Describe the process(es) your organization has in place to ensure that your engagement activities are consistent with your overall climate change strategy[…]Daikin's main products, ACs, consume large amounts of energy during operation, and fluorocarbons used as refrigerants significantly influence climate change. While taking appropriate measures against risks arising from it, we strive to implement our strategy of promoting environment-conscious products and services, which are highly energy-efficient using low GWP refrigerant. Daikin has strength in such products and services. The officer in charge of the environment is responsible for this strategy and CSR and Global Environment Center are working to implement the strategy.
Under these circumstances, collaborating with international organizations and industry associations which are positive about addressing the climate related issues, we are promoting the dissemination of highly energy efficient inverter ACs and the conversion of refrigerants used in ACs to low GWP refrigerant R32 from conventional high GWP refrigerants. In fiscal 2021, we continued to collaborate with organizations such as JICA and JRAIA. For the penetration of R32 ACs, the understandings of the local governments and markets as well as local companies' skills are necessary so that such local companies are able to manufacture and sell such products in addition to Daikin. For example, to promote the low-GWP refrigerant R-32, at the request of an international organization and a government, we provide information on environmental aspect, safety and test results of R-32 which are required to decide the international regulations and the government policy.

Regarding the involvement of the various policies related to environment and climate change issues including refrigerants, discussions are held to share information in meetings such as environmental product meeting (a meeting to discuss improvement of products' environmental aspects by sharing regional regulations and social trends, once a year) and regional manager meeting (a meeting of global executives and the top management in headquarters including the CEO to discuss regional challenges, etc. once a year by region) to confirm the alignment with our medium-term strategic management plan "FUSION" which stipulates our policy of climate change including the promotion of low GWP refrigerant R-32.
