Describe the process(es) your organization has in place to ensure that your engagement activities are consistent with your overall climate change strategy[…]The October 2021 Iberdrola Climate Action document, available on the website, presents how the Group, of which Neoenergia is a part, adheres to the Paris Agreement, and defines its objectives and strategies in line with these. The commitment to decarbonization is reflected in the 2020-2025 investment plan, with investments focused on Renewable Energy and Networks. For this, it has a robust governance system and specific policies directing the Group's actions.
The Climate Action policy brings in its commitments the basic principle of involving all Interest Groups in its Climate Action strategy, aligned to the 1.5ºC limit, through a two-way communication based on the creation of sustainable value for all of them, in accordance with the provisions of the Policy on Relationship with Interest Groups, with the objective of developing a fair transition strategy for the energy model.
In this sense, Neoenergia participates in activities with stakeholders such as governments, associations, sectoral organizations and other public and private institutions, including research and education institutions, engaging in discussions and projects that may directly or indirectly influence national policies, laws and regulations that, in turn, may contribute to the fight against climate threats.
The associations and forums in which we actively participate in Brazil are: Abraceel, Abradee, Abrage, Absolar, Apine, Associação UTC América Latina, Abrate, Federação das Indústrias da Bahia, GRI Brasil Eventos Ltda., Abradee Energy Institute, Abraget, Abeeolica, Brazilian Association of Infrastructure and Basic Industry, Acende Brasil Institute, Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), Brazil Global Compact Network (RBPC) and subnational climate foruns (Salvador, Recife, Pernambuco). As an example of engagement activities, along with more than 100 companies and 10 sector entities, Neoenergia is a signatory to the commitment called "Entrepreneurs for the Climate† of CEBDS. In the commitment, companies support measures to accelerate the promotion of a low carbon economy in Brazil and assume responsibilities in this transformation. It was a business contribution taken to the Climate Conference of the Parties COP 26 held in 2021 in Glasgow. Neoenergia has actively participated in the COPs, assuming its role and global responsibility in the fight against climate change. We also carry out projects and studies with renowned universities in the country and abroad.
