Describe the process(es) your organization has in place to ensure that your engagement activities are consistent with your overall climate change strategy[…]SSAB's guideline on corporate climate engagement is decided by the group executive management and executed by our experts. Head of Corporate Identity and Group Communications is responsible for ensuring that all SSAB representatives are aware of, and act according to, this guideline.
The SSAB engagement in advocacy and lobbying activities are to be conducted based on the principles of openness, neutrality and responsibility, and must be clearly identifiable as being made on behalf of SSAB.
SSAB's target for greenhouse gas emissions, a reduction of 35% to 2032 (2018 base year), have been approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative. This also guides our corporate climate engagement. We support and advocate for the goals in the Paris agreement (to keeping global warming well below 2°C, with the ambition to limit it to 1.5 degrees).
We will yearly asses how industry associations, other organizations and/or platforms in which SSAB is a member, align with the Paris Agreement goals and our own objectives, according to information in the public domain and/or according to our own knowledge. The objectives of SSAB and our membership organisations can change over-time.
