We are striving to secure the necessary technologies to enter the green infrastructure and hydrogen energy business, and we are proposing ideas for energy consumption and greenhouse gas reduction to major customers by optimizing plant operation.

Describe the process(es) your organization has in place to ensure that your external engagement activities are consistent with your climate commitments and/or climate transition plan?[…]Samsung Engineering is establishing and promoting a strategy called 'Beyond EPC Solution' based on ESG, a strategy to secure new businesses in the EPC market in order to foster new businesses in 2022. We are striving to secure the technology necessary to advance into the CCUS and green hydrogen energy business, and we are proposing ideas to reduce energy consumption and GHG emissions to our major customers by optimizing plant operation. In addition, climate change risks are monitored and managed through the ESG Working Group, and major issues are discussed with the ESG Working Group composed of executives on a quarterly basis. In particular, in October 2022, the ESG Committee established the basic direction of 'Participation in overcoming the global climate crisis' and the environmental management promotion plan ('100% renewable energy conversion and achievement of carbon neutrality', minimization of waste landfill, and 'resource circulation improvement' of water resource conservation activities). and established Samsung Engineering's ESG management system. In addition, climate change is the most important issue in the environment and energy sector, and GHG emission management is the most important in responding to/adapting to climate change. Therefore, under the supervision of the Environmental Management Group, the adequacy of performance management is verified through verification by a third-party external organization for GHG emissions Scopes 1, 2, and 3 calculated using the 'IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories, 2006' every year. In addition, in December 2022, we completed a consulting business contract to acquire ISO50001 certification to advance Samsung Engineering's energy monitoring system, and in June, we offered an ISO50001 comprehensive consulting services for energy/environmental management managers at the project sites.
