Golar LNG’s disclosures focus on project contracts and ESG risk management but include no internal governance processes or oversight structures for lobbying activities. For example, the company details its first phase of BP’s GTA Project, stating “In February 2019, Gimi MS Corporation (‘Gimi MS’) and our subsidiary Golar MS Operator S.A.R.L entered into the LOA,” and describes how “Management created a structure of working groups (as shown on the next page) who oversee each aspect of ESG in the business and report up to the Safety, Environment and Ethics (‘SEE’) Committee,” which is “responsible for identifying, assessing and monitoring climate risks and opportunities, with the highest rated presented to the Board.” However, there is no reference to any policy, committee, or individual tasked with reviewing, approving or aligning the company’s direct or indirect lobbying with its climate positions, and we found no evidence of a lobbying alignment review process or engagement with trade associations on policy matters.
