Vertex will collaborate with industry leaders to determine best practices for meeting local and global needs. An internal Sustainability Committee oversees and implements Vertex's global environmental programs. It includes leaders from Operations; Environment, Health and Safety; Corporate Responsibility; Research and Development; Risk and Insurance, and Finance.

Vertex is involved with the Massachusetts Competitive Partnership (MACP) - The Massachusetts Competitive Partnership is a non-profit, non-partisan, 501(c)(4) public policy group comprised of chief executive officers of some of the Commonwealth's largest businesses. Vertex's Executive Chairman holds a position on the Board of MACP. The Partnership's goals are to promote job growth and competitiveness in the Commonwealth by working in collaboration with public officials and business and civic leaders in Massachusetts. One of the focus topics for the MACP is energy and climate issues.
Vertex is involved with Climate Ready Boston – Climate Ready Boston is a project of the City of Boston with four major components- Updated climate projections, vulnerability assessments, eight geographical focus areas, and climate resilience initiatives. Climate Ready Boston is an ongoing initiative to help the people and city of Boston to plan for the future impacts of climate change and develop resilient solutions.
