Lobbying Governance

Describe the process(es) your organization has in place to ensure that your engagement activities are consistent with your overall climate change strategy[…]To help ensure that that the business strategy of the Group, and all of the different business activities we undertake, is consistent with our climate change strategy we have a strong governance approach. Leadership comes from the very top, with our Group CEO, overall responsible for material decisions relating to our climate change strategy.
Our Group Chief CSR Officer sits on the Group Executive Committee (GEC) and sits on the Group net zero board. The GEC sets the strategic priorities and the resulting action plans and ensures that these plans are properly and effectively implemented at the operational level. Our Group net zero board, provides an additional level of governance, with executives including those representing our key environmental impact areas such as the head of corporate real estate and the global head of environmental sustainability, as well as executive leaders of our organisation including the CEO and CFO. The Group net zero board's mandate is to: set the Group net zero ambition, strategy and targets in alignment with our business strategy; monitor progress versus strategy; bring views, needs and priorities from our operations regarding climate change
and environmental sustainability; challenge the status quo and foster innovation in our approach.
We have a clear policy that states that all lobbying or direct support of political policies must be signed of by a member of the Group Executive Board (GEB). All employees are made aware of this in Our Code of Business Ethics and in our 'Blue Book', a central document which contains the Group Fundamentals, Guidelines and Policies. Our Group Environment Policy is also integrated into the Blue Book and in most of our larger entities computer-based training courses are held to help employees understand their role in supporting our environmental commitments. Support of various communiqués is subject to agreement of our CEO who as a member of the net zero board has a clear understanding of our overall climate change strategy. The CEO can thus ensure that all communiqués are relevant and appropriate. Where engagements and
decisions are more local, approval will be sought through the Country Boards or business unit leader for each country where applicable
