Macy's, Inc. environmental and climate strategy is based on managing the environmental impact of our business including our supply chain and suppliers, as well as our stores and distribution network. This is consistent with the many trade groups that Macy's, Inc. is part of. As members of RILA, BSR, AAFA, NRF,and USFIA, Macy's, Inc. colleagues and leaders participate in various environment and supply chain working groups to share best practices, network and learn from other subject matter experts. Additionally, in 2018 Macy's, Inc. formed a Sustainability Committee, which reports to our senior management team and has board oversight. The Committee includes leaders from across the company who are responsible for evaluating and driving existing environmental goals.
Additionally, Macy's, Inc. employees (at manager, director, and senior director levels across the business) participate extensively in the Retail Industry Leader Association through the Responsible Sourcing, Environmental Compliance, Retail Energy Management, Zero Waste, and Sustainability Committees. We also participate in the American Apparel and Footwear Association's Environmental and Social Responsibility Committees. Through webinars, phone calls, live conferences, and peer benchmarking, we actively gather information related to climate change, integrate it into our reporting, and filter it up to Macy's, Inc. senior management to inform climate strategy.
