Huhtamaki Oyj
- Board oversight
- Regular monitoring cycle
Huhtamaki establishes a clear point of accountability for its advocacy activities, but its disclosures suggest that the scope of alignment processes is limited. It notes that "Executive Vice President Sustainability and Communications who also oversees Huhtamaki Public Affairs and advocacy," naming a specific individual responsible for reviewing engagement efforts, and explains that "Subject matter experts in the Sustainability Center of Excellence team work together with the Public Affairs team when planning the engagement activities and responses. This ensures consistency and alignment with our overall climate strategy." To monitor progress, the company reports that it "have developed a global sustainability dashboard with selected key performance indicators" and that the "Executive Vice President Sustainability and Communications reports to the Group Executive Team (GET), Huhtamaki Board of Directors (BoD) and investors on our progress incl. the climate-related KPIs on a regular basis." However, we found no evidence of any process for reviewing or influencing the positions of trade or industry associations, nor of a formal board sign-off or independent review mechanism specifically for climate-related lobbying activities.
